Основные моменты: Внутри купола мягкий голубой свет переливается от более чем 20 000 расписных изникских плиток, оформленных в свыше 50 тюльпанных узоров, так что ковры и арки выглядят как акварельные мазки. По легенде, когда султан Ахмед I вел постройку в 1609–1616 годах под руководством архитектора Сефедкара Мехмета Ага, возник спор из-за шести минаретов: по рассказам, спор уладили добавлением седьмого минарёта в другом святом месте, а сами шесть стройных минаретов видны издалека.
