About
Краткие факты: Three interlocking galleries let you jump from contemporary art to regional history to natural science without leaving the same building, so a single visit feels like three mini-museums. Colorful, community-driven exhibits and hands-on installations bring local stories to life, with oral histories, textiles, and photography appearing alongside objects and specimens.
Основные моменты: Step into the sunlit garden courtyard and inhale rosemary, sage, and damp earth as neighbors picnic under native plants, a quiet urban oasis with layered sculptures and a hummingbird-filled hedge. Live programming like evening DJ nights and community altar-making events animates the space, where a single Saturday can host a 20-person artist talk followed by a late-night performance.
Insider tips
- Wear comfortable shoes, galleries are spread across several floors and outdoor terraces.
- Head to the rooftop garden at golden hour for skyline photos and good natural light.
- If short on time, prioritize the California history and social justice displays, they are the museum's signature exhibits.
- Buy tickets online for timed entry to avoid lines, and bring a light jacket since galleries can feel cool.

3.5Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was crowded. General admission felt fair but the special exhibition had an extra fee and was underwhelming.
Arrived at 10am, almost no line and easy parking. Paid about $16, the California history and art galleries were excellent, the cafe felt overpriced.
