About
Hitre informacije: Mist-wreathed trails thread through an urban rainforest where howler monkeys and more than a thousand native plant species share a cathedral of trees. Climb granite peaks to sweeping lookout points with skyline-and-sea panoramas, then cool off beneath hidden waterfalls that reward hikers with secluded swimming pools.
Vrhunci: Back in the mid-1800s Emperor Pedro II ordered replanting on what had been coffee farms, and those crews helped regenerate roughly 32 square kilometers of forest by planting thousands of native trees on steep, misty slopes. Hike up a narrow, rocky trail to a granite viewpoint where the air smells like wet leaves and orchids, and watch paragliders launch shoulder to shoulder into thermals that lift them over the city toward the ocean.
