O znamenitosti

Hitre informacije: Three hills form the ancient core of Plovdiv, and Nebet Tepe is the highest among them at over 200 meters. Thracians first fortified this hilltop around 4000 BC, and walls from later Greek and Roman periods still stand today alongside sweeping city views.

Poudarki: On quiet evenings, locals climb the steep cobblestone path carrying bottles of wine and cheese to watch the sunset from the ancient fortress walls. You can still spot the original 6-meter-thick Thracian stonework embedded in the later Roman and medieval additions, a visible timeline of 6000 years of continuous habitation.

Notranji nasveti

  • Wear sturdy walking shoes for the steep, uneven cobblestone path that gets slippery when wet.
  • The best photo spot is the eastern edge of the plateau where the old walls frame the city below.
  • Avoid the midday heat in summer; there is almost no shade on the open hilltop.
  • Visit after 9 PM in summer for a completely different experience with the city lights spread out beneath you.
