In Souq Waqif, a market over 100 years old, the scent of spices and incense fills the air. The Museum of Islamic Art houses 1,400-year-old treasures from three continents. The artificial island of The Pearl-Qatar stretches over four square kilometers and offers luxury on the Persian Gulf.

Doha
Hitre informacije: Muzejska petnadstropna apnenčasta stavba stoji na svojem umetnem otoku, povezanem s sprehajališčem ob obali z dvema peš mostovoma. Njegova zbirka obsega več kot 1400 let umetnosti s treh celin, vključno s Španijo, Perzijo in Srednjo Azijo.
Poudarki: Arhitekt I.M.

Poudarki: Točno ob 20. uri se uličice spremenijo v gledališče vonjav, ko trgovci z začimbami poškropijo tlakovce z rožno vodo in ohladijo zrak s cvetličnim parfumom. Sokolji sok vam omogoča, da na roki držite 12.000 QAR vrednega gyrfalcona, medtem ko beduinski trgovec razlaga rodovnik ptice, ki sega sedem generacij nazaj.

Doha

Poudarki: Ob petkovih jutrih se park spremeni v večkulturno prizorišče piknikov, kjer desetine filipinskih, indijskih in arabskih družin zasedejo mesta pod velikanskimi banjanovci.

One of the best-preserved fortresses on the Gulf transports you to the era of pearl divers and desert traders. You wander through cool corridors, climb the defensive towers, and feel the wind that filled the sails of the dhows centuries ago.
Hitre informacije: The fortress originally served as a police station and coast guard before being converted into a museum. Its thick limestone walls provide a pleasantly cool interior even on the hottest Gulf days.
Poudarki: From the battlements of the fortress, you have a breathtaking 360-degree view of the former pearl-diving town of Al Zubarah, whose ruins have been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2013. If you look closely, you can still make out the outlines of over 60 mosques and hundreds of houses lying hidden beneath the desert sand.

Doha
The seven-kilometer-long waterfront promenade offers the best view of the Doha skyline. Here, Arabic tradition and modernity meet right on the water.

Ko se sprehodite skozi 1,5 kilometra dolgo zaporedje galerij, boste slišali premikanje peska, zavohali kadilo in začutili puščavski vetrič skozi pametno nameščene odprtine.

Doha
Here artists paint, print, and discuss right before your eyes. Stroll through open studios, galleries, and a relaxed café in a converted fire station.
Hitre informacije: Once a fire station, the yellow building now houses one of the most dynamic art residencies in the Middle East. The house attracts around 150,000 visitors annually, who explore contemporary works and studios free of charge.
Poudarki: In the former sleeping quarters of the firefighters, up to 15 artists from around the world now work in modern studios whose glass walls completely reveal the creative process to visitors. As you walk through the corridors, you occasionally smell fresh paint and hear the hum of printing presses right next to works from the permanent collection comprising 9,000 pieces.

Finally made it to Qatar. The heat is no joke, 45 degrees at 10am. But the Corniche at sunset is absolutely gorgeous. 3 days is enough honestly.
Souq Waqif at night is where the magic happens. Spent hours just wandering, the scents, the lights, the shisha cafes. Felt safe walking alone as a woman too.
Mixed feelings. Doha feels like a giant mall sometimes. Beautiful architecture but lacked soul in some areas. The Museum of Islamic Art saved the trip for me.
Book the Sunday brunch at a 5 star hotel. Sounds crazy expensive but you get pool access, unlimited food and drinks for hours. Best deal in Doha.
Skip the fancy restaurants in the Pearl. Walk into any cafeteria in Al Sadd for real karak chai and paratha for under 10 riyals. Life changing.
