Hitre informacije: Približno 80 osirotelih in poškodovanih slonov živi in prosto pohaja po 25 hektarjev velikem posestvu ob reki. Vsako jutro okoli 10. ure se čreda sprehodi skozi ulice do bližnje reke na svojo vsakodnevno dvourno kopel, povorka, ki privabi na tisoče obiskovalcev.
Poudarki: Za razliko od živalskih vrtov, kjer so živali ločene od ljudi z ograjami, mahouti (skrbniki) živijo ob določenih slonih 24 ur na dan, 7 dni v tednu, ter tvorijo vezi, ki trajajo desetletja. Starejši mahout po imenu Somapala skrbi za isto slepo slonico po imenu Tikiri že 35 let in ona takoj prepozna njegove korake in glas.

- Skip the souvenir shops inside the orphanage and buy from local vendors outside the gate where prices are 30-50% lower.
