Hitre informacije: Proizvodnja volne je v antiki to mesto naredila izjemno bogato, saj so bile lokalne ovce cenjene zaradi svojega temno vijolično črnega runa. Silovit potres je mesto poravnal s tlemi v 7. stoletju, njegove ruševine pa so ostale pokopane pod 10 metri naplavljenega mulja.

Poudarki: Za razliko od svojih bolj bleščečih sosedov Hierapolisa in Laodiceje to najdišče ostaja skoraj v celoti neizkopano, kar pomeni, da celotno rimsko mesto spi pod kmetijskimi polji. Ko se sprehajate po travnatem griču, lahko dobesedno čutite obrise ulic in zgradb tik pod nogami, ki se jih arheologi niso dotaknili več kot 1300 let.

• Wear sturdy walking shoes, the uneven terrain of the unexcavated tell (mound) is covered with loose stones and animal burrows.
• Visit after rain when the wet earth reveals pottery shards and tile fragments pushed to the surface, but never remove any artifacts.
• Stop at the Denizli Archaeology Museum afterward to see the few artifacts recovered from here, including coins and inscriptions.
• Bring binoculars to spot the faint outlines of the ancient theater and city walls visible in the contours of the wheat fields.
