Snabba fakta: The hike to Krippenstein summit takes you through the Dachstein region's lunar-like karst landscape, where over 100 caves riddle the limestone beneath your feet. At 2,108 meters elevation, you'll stand above clouds while watching paragliders launch from the peak.
Höjdpunkter: Five massive wooden crosses crown the summit plateau, erected over centuries as storm shelters for lost hikers. On clear days, you can trace the curve of the Earth itself from the 360-degree panorama stretching across six mountain ranges.

- Pack a windproof jacket even in summer; the summit can be 10C colder than the valley with sudden gusts.
- Skip the main cable car queue by arriving before 8:30 AM or after 2:00 PM on weekends.
- Bring a headlamp if you want to explore the Eiskar Cave, a natural ice cave directly on the hiking trail.
- The 5 Fingers viewing platform is free after you've paid for the cable car and offers glass-floor sections jutting over the void.
