Snabba fakta: Standing 26 meters tall on a hilltop, this white concrete statue watches over the city from 1,440 meters above sea level. Sculptor Gerardo Navia spent four years carving the figure, which required hauling materials up the steep mountainside by mule.
Höjdpunkter: At sunset, the statue's long shadow stretches across the entire western side of Cali, creating a dramatic silhouette that locals call "the blessing of the city." The best view comes from the small chapel at the statue's base, where afternoon light filters through the clouds and paints the valley in shifting shades of orange and purple.
Insidertips
- Take a taxi or Uber from central Cali for about 15,000-20,000 COP instead of booking a tour.
- Wear closed-toe shoes for the steep stair climb to the statue's observation platform.
- Visit on a clear day, morning fog can completely obscure the valley views until around 10 AM.
- Bring water and sunscreen, the hilltop gets intense sun with zero shade on the observation deck.
