Snabba fakta: Kanalen från 1600-talet grävdes av svenska krigsfångar under dansk-svenska krig. Färgglada hus med gavlar kantar vattnet, och det äldsta huset är från 1681 vid nummer 9.
Höjdpunkter: De flesta besökare märker aldrig den lilla privatägda julmarknadsbutiken vid nummer 20 som är öppen året runt, gömd bakom en oansenlig röd dörr. H.C. Andersen bodde på tre olika adresser längs kanalen (nummer 18, 20 och 67) och skrev några av sina mest kända sagor när han vistades här.
