Om

Snabba fakta: Spread across 445 hectares, this unusual park operates as both a zoo and a rescue center for animals that cannot survive in the wild. Over 200 species of birds have been spotted here, making it a surprise hotspot for birdwatchers right on the edge of Bhopal.

Höjdpunkter: Unlike a typical zoo, every animal here was rescued from circuses, poachers, or private owners and cannot be released back into the wild. You can watch a leopard sprawled on a rock just meters away, separated only by a moat, with no cages blocking your view.

Insidertips

  • Rent a bicycle inside the park for 50 INR instead of driving, you'll move quietly and spot more wildlife.
  • Bring binoculars for the bird watching tower near the lake, especially between November and February.
  • Skip the battery-operated vehicles and walk the shaded loop road instead to catch animals at their most natural.
  • Arrive right at 6 AM opening to enjoy the park nearly empty and hear the morning calls of peacocks and langurs.
