Early morning or late afternoon light gives cooler temperatures and the best photos, especially from November to February when Delhi is pleasant. Avoid midday heat and large school-group timings from mid-morning.
Budgettips
Entry roughly INR 40 for Indian nationals and INR 600 for foreign nationals, with a small camera fee; buy ASI e-tickets to skip the line. No regular free days, children under 15 usually enter free, so check ASI updates before you go.

Snabba fakta: Morning light and evening glow make the white marble shift colors, with a pinkish tint at dawn and a warm honey tone at sunset. Local records say about 20,000 artisans and laborers worked for roughly 22 years, bringing in marble and stones from distant regions like Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
Höjdpunkter: Look closely at the walls and you'll find over 28 types of semi-precious stones, lapis lazuli giving vivid blues and carnelian adding deep reds, inlaid so finely the motifs seem painted. Four freestanding minarets are intentionally set to lean slightly outward, a clever safety measure so they would fall away from the central tomb instead of onto it during an earthquake.
Insidertips
- Wear comfortable closed shoes, paths are uneven and sometimes dusty.
- Arrive at opening or late afternoon to avoid school groups and tour buses that crowd the lawns mid-morning.
- Photograph the tower from the lawns opposite the Iron Pillar for a full-frame shot, or use a telephoto to capture carved bands and inscriptions.
- Skip climbing inside; access to the interior is restricted, so spend time reading the inscriptions and exploring the adjacent Alauddin Khalji ruins instead.

Gratis guidade vandringar. Ja, faktiskt gratis. Ingen kreditkort krävs. Inga fångster.
