Snabba fakta: Grundad av grekiska kolonister år 734 f.Kr. var detta faktiskt den allra första grekiska bosättningen på hela ön Sicilien. Staden totalförstördes av Dionysios I av Syrakusa år 403 f.Kr. och byggdes aldrig upp igen, vilket lämnar ruinerna frusna i tiden precis som de övergavs.
