A remarkable array of early Buddhist sculptures and lacquered interiors includes works by craftsmen like Tori Busshi, and many pieces are designated national treasures.

Step into the main hall and the gilt-bronze Shaka Triad by Tori Busshi, dated 623, greets you at roughly human scale, the faint sheen of original gilding catching the light in a way that still surprises visitors.
