Snabba fakta: Porten bär en stormästares vapensköld huggen i sten över ingången, en symbol på den makt som en gång kontrollerade denna passage. Genom portens valv har riddare, soldater och handelsmän rört sig i över 300 år.

Höjdpunkter: Innanför portens tjocka murverk ligger ett litet vaktrum där soldater kunde överraska inkräktare i bakhåll. De ursprungliga järngångjärnen som bar den enorma träporten är fortfarande synliga och vittnar om en svunnen tid med hantverk och försvar.

Look for the arrow slits in the stone walls on both sides of the passage, they reveal the gate's defensive function.
The best photo is taken from below with the gate framing the narrow street and the stairs behind.
Avoid hours between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM when cruise ships send large groups to the area.
Combine the visit with a trip to the Innsida Fortifications Visitor Centre nearby to better understand the defensive works.
