Snabba fakta: Ringed by sandbars stretching 10 kilometers, this island shifts shape with every winter storm and tidal surge. Only 50 or so residents live here year-round, sharing the island with egrets, oystercatchers, and the ruins of an 18th-century fort.
Höjdpunkter: At low tide, a sand bridge emerges connecting the island to neighboring Armona, allowing you to walk across the seabed between two islands for about two hours. The walk reveals tidal pools shimmering with tiny crabs, sea stars, and the occasional octopus hiding among the rocks.

- Walk past the first crowded beach near the dock and follow the boardwalk 15 minutes east for emptier sand and better shelling.
