Bran Castle
Bästa tid att besöka
Best in the morning right after opening at 9:00 AM, when the crowds are smallest and the morning light beautifully illuminates the Gothic windows in the knights' hall. In autumn, the surrounding forests burst with colors, which enhances the atmosphere of the entire grounds.
Budgettips
Basic admission costs 70 lei (approx. 350 CZK), with discounts for students and seniors. If you plan to visit the nearby Râșnov Fortress as well, get a combined ticket for 90 lei.

Snabba fakta: Over 600,000 visitors come here every year to see with their own eyes the place connected to the Dracula legend. In reality, Vlad the Impaler, who is said to have served as the model for the vampire count, never lived here. The castle served mainly as a customs fortress and royal residence.
Höjdpunkter: In the courtyard you can still find the original 60-meter deep stone well, once hand-dug by Turkish captives. In the basement you will see a secret passage that connected the castle to the surrounding forests and served as an escape route for the royal family.
Insidertips
- Do not arrive at noon between 12:00 and 2:00 PM, as most organized tours from Brașov arrive at that time.
- Instead of standing in the hour-long line at the main gate, use the side entrance through Queen Marie's Tea House. It is almost line-free.
- The best photo of the castle is taken from the viewpoint by the road below the castle, where the entire silhouette including the towers is in the frame.
- It is not worth buying souvenirs from the first stall at the castle. A few meters further in the foothills, they sell them for half the price.
