Snabba fakta: Housed within a massive 18th-century fortress complex, this museum holds over 300,000 artifacts spanning from prehistoric times through World War II. Among its treasures are medieval knightly armor, Ottoman-era weapons, and the personal effects of Serbian royalty.

Höjdpunkter: One of the most striking displays is the original gate from the 1456 Siege of Belgrade, still showing deep scars from cannonball impacts and sword slashes. You can literally trace your fingers along the same grooves carved by Ottoman cannonballs nearly 600 years ago.

• Start your visit at the Roman well first, then climb the fortress walls before entering the museum for historical context.
• The medieval weapons hall gets crowded after 11 AM, so head there immediately when doors open.
