Snabba fakta: Paviljongen Yeonggeumjeon vilar på en klippig udde ovanför Japanska havet, och vågorna bryts mot klipporna 20 meter nedanför. Från en liten utsiktsplats har man utsikt över tre pittoreska stränder i Sokcho och hamnen med fiskebåtar.
Höjdpunkter: I blåsigt väder hörs här ett naturligt "musikaliskt" ackompanjemang: vinden som viner mellan paviljongens pelare blandas med dånet från bränningarna nedanför. Grenarna på kusttallarna som växer direkt ur klipporna böjer sig och lägger sig nästan horisontellt. Denna syn påminner om en scen från en gammal koreansk film.
Insidertips
- Take a windbreaker even in summer: a strong wind blows from the sea, and wave spray reaches the pavilion.
- Best spot for photos, left side of the pavilion: from there you can see both the lighthouse and the coastline.
- Bring a thermos with coffee, the benches by the railing are perfect for sitting and listening to the sea.
- Do not rush to leave: in 10-15 minutes the waves change, and a completely different angle on the rocks opens up.
