You just show up and a local guide takes you around for 2-3 hours. All the major sights, hidden gems, local stories. Here's the thing: guides work entirely on tips. At the end, you tip whatever feels right. Most people give around €10-15, which is a fraction of what traditional tours cost for a much better experience.

Expected a remote paradise but parts felt too touristy, Long Beach gets busy and loud at night, not ideal for sleep.
Laid-back island, great sunsets and fresh seafood. Beaches quieter than Phuket, but some spots still crowded near sunset, plan around that.
Ferry tip: book the car ferries mornings to avoid long waits, and buy tickets at the pier same day if you have a flexible schedule, cheaper than agents.
Beaches are quiet and miles of sand, great seafood stalls, came for a week and wished I stayed ten days.
Felt overrated at times, main beach glutted with day trippers and prices higher than I expected. Not the bargain I hoped for.
