Snabba fakta: Rising to 3,143 meters, the summit holds the country's highest point and rewards early hikers with a carpet of clouds and dawn light that turns terraced fields into ribbons. A modern cable car whisks visitors to the upper station in about 15 minutes, offering panoramic views that compress valleys, rivers, and mountain ridgelines into a dramatic sweep.
Höjdpunkter: Climbing the last stretch involves roughly 600 uneven stone steps from the upper station, each breath tasting thinner and colder as you push through to a summit often wrapped in wind-whipped prayer scarves. A short, glass-windowed cable car ride of about 15 minutes flips valley rice terraces into a mosaic below, then the sudden silence at the summit makes the ringing of temple bells and the scent of incense feel startlingly close.
Insider tips
- Wear warm layers and sturdy shoes, summit temperatures and wind can be much colder than Sapa town.
- Aim for the first cable car or pre-dawn trek to catch sunrise and beat most day-trip crowds at the summit viewpoint.
- If hiking, hire a local guide and carry extra water, snacks, and a rain layer, trail sections can be steep and muddy.
- Skip the overpriced summit souvenir stalls and use the western summit platform for the widest panoramic photos.

4.3Soluppgången klockan 05:30 var magisk och nästan tom. Besöket i pagoden var gratis, linbanan dyr men soluppgångsutsikten gjorde det värt det.
Gick 10 km, start 05:00, brant men lugnt till lunch då folkmassorna växte. Guideavgiften kändes dyr: 400k VND.
Kom fram 06:30, nästan ingen kö till linbanan som kostade runt 700k VND. Utsikten från toppen var värd det, köerna blev långa senare.
Arrived 9am with kids, 45 minute cable car wait and steep stairs at the top. Ticket was about 700k VND each but summit view made it worth it.
