Quick facts: This square is home to Romania's largest statue of Ovid, erected in 1887. The block of late 19th century buildings surrounding the square has, thanks to new lighting and renovations, become the city's most popular evening walking spot.
Highlights: Locals say Ovid looks toward the sea, but in reality his face is turned toward civilization. As the sun sets and the lights come on, shadows form around the marble poet, making him seem to move and recite poetry.

- Park the car a bit further away, as the streets around the square are often congested and parking is expensive.
- The best photo can be taken from the northern end of the square, where the entire architecture and the statue are visible at once.
- During summer days, it is very crowded here; come around 9 in the morning when the square is almost empty.
- In winter, there is a wonderful Christmas market here that attracts thousands of visitors.
