Visit in the late afternoon on a weekday to catch the golden light over the valley and dodge the weekend tour crowds. Spring and early autumn offer the most comfortable walking weather on the steep cobbled streets.

Entry to the castle grounds and bazaar is free; only the Skanderbeg Museum charges an admission fee of about 500 lek. Combine the museum ticket with a walk through the bazaar stalls below, where bargaining is expected and souvenirs cost far less than in Tirana.

حقائق سريعة: كانت القلعة بمثابة معقل سكندربغ، بطل ألبانيا القومي، الذي صدّ القوات العثمانية هنا لأكثر من عقدين في القرن الخامس عشر. لا تزال جدرانها الحجرية قائمة فوق بلدة كرويه، ويمتد شارع البازار الذي يعود للعصر العثماني مباشرة أسفل بوابات القلعة.

النقاط البارزة: يمكن للزوار رؤية الخوذة البرونزية الأصلية وسيف سكندربغ، ويزن كل منهما عدة كيلوغرامات، معروضين في المتحف الموجود في الموقع الذي بُني عام 1982. تطل شرفة القلعة البانورامية على تلال متموجة حيث، وفقاً للقصص المحلية، كان الرعاة يرسلون إشارات تحركات قوات سكندربغ باستخدام الدخان في النهار والنار في الليل.

Wear sturdy shoes with grip, the castle's stone paths are worn smooth after centuries of footsteps and get slippery when damp.
For the best photo, stand at the northern rampart edge near sunset when the valley below spreads out in warm tones.
Skip the tourist restaurants just inside the gates and eat at the tiny family-run eateries further down the bazaar street for better prices.
Arrive before 10 AM on summer weekends to get parking closer to the entrance and avoid the midday crush.
