Datos rápidos: Este bosque lluvioso del sureste de Madagascar alberga más de 12 especies de lémures, incluido el raro lémur de bambú. En 1990 fue inscrito en la lista del Patrimonio Mundial de la UNESCO, pues esconde una increíble diversidad biológica con más de cien especies endémicas de plantas y animales.
Destacados: Los científicos descubrieron aquí en 1986 una especie de mamífero completamente nueva, el lémur de bambú dorado, que hasta entonces nadie conocía. Su dieta principal contiene suficiente cianuro como para matar a la mayoría de los demás animales, y el lémur lo digiere sin problemas.
