Acerca de

Datos rápidos: Standing 27 meters tall at its highest point, this Roman aqueduct once channeled water 15 kilometers from the Francolí River straight into ancient Tarraco. Its 25 arches survived 2,000 years without mortar, relying entirely on precise stone cutting and the weight of each block.

Destacados: Unlike many Roman ruins that were knocked down for building materials, locals protected this aqueduct for centuries by weaving it into their legends, calling it the "Devil's Bridge" and claiming Satan himself built it overnight. On summer evenings, you can still walk through the exact same arches that carried water to Roman baths, villas, and fountains for over 400 years.

Consejos de expertos

  • Wear sturdy shoes to climb the uneven Roman stones at the base for a close-up view of the original chisel marks.
  • Bring a wide-angle lens or phone with panorama mode, the 217-meter length is impossible to capture in one standard shot.
  • Skip the tourist-packed morning hours by arriving after 5 PM when school groups have left and the light turns soft.
  • Walk underneath the arches toward the far end to find the best photo angle looking back through the full colonnade.
