概要

クイックファクト: 千点以上の青銅製の仮面、神樹、象牙が1986年に二つの祭祀坑から再び日の目を見た。それらはどれも造形が異様で、中原の青銅器とは全く似ていない。考古学者は今に至るまで文字記録を一切発見しておらず、これらの文物がどの古代王国に属し、なぜ埋められたのかは、いまだ解明されていない謎である。

見どころ: 青銅の神樹は高さ3.96メートルで、三層の枝幹に分かれ、各層には九羽の神鳥が止まり、頂上には瑞獣が一頭立っている。木全体は展示室で床から天井まで達している。最も奇妙なのは縦目仮面で、眼球が外に向かって16センチも突出しており、まるで宇宙人のような姿で、その前に立つ全ての観光客が思わず息を呑む。
