クイックファクト: オマーン湾を見渡す岩だらけの露頭にそびえるこの要塞は、もともと1580年代にポルトガル人がマスカットの港を守るために建設しました。双子の見張り塔と劇的な崖っぷちの位置には、かつて湾全体に警告射撃を放つことのできる大砲が設置されていました。
見どころ: 埃っぽい博物館のように感じられるほとんどの要塞とは異なり、ここには今でも稼働する跳ね橋と、海に向けられたオリジナルのポルトガル製大砲が残っています。狭い階段を屋上まで登り、夕日を眺めながら、港の向こうに街の灯りが次々とともるのを見守りましょう。
