Korte feiten: Gelegen op een rotsachtige uitloper met uitzicht op de Golf van Oman, werd dit fort oorspronkelijk in de jaren 1580 door de Portugezen gebouwd om de haven van Muscat te beschermen. De tweelingwachttorens en dramatische klifpositie huisvestten ooit kanonnen die waarschuwingsschoten over de hele baai konden afvuren.
Hoogtepunten: In tegenstelling tot de meeste forten die als stoffige musea aanvoelen, heeft deze nog een werkende ophaalbrug en originele Portugese kanonnen gericht op zee. Loop de smalle trappen op naar het dak bij zonsondergang en kijk hoe de stadslichten beneden over de haven oplichten.
