Korte feiten: Gelegen op een rotsachtige uitloper met uitzicht op de haven, bewaakt dit fort de haven van Muscat sinds ten minste de 16e eeuw. Zijn tweeling, Al Jalali-fort, ligt direct aan de overkant van de baai, en samen sloten ze ooit de haveningang af met kettingen om de toegang te controleren.
Hoogtepunten: Kijk goed naar de basis van de fortmuren en u zult de originele Portugese kanonskogels zien die nog steeds in de steen zijn ingebed van eeuwenoude belegeringen. Het interieur van het fort heeft een werkende Portugese wateropslag die nog steeds regenwater opvangt, net zoals toen het werd gebouwd door de koloniale ingenieurs in de jaren 1580.
