Korte feiten: Op dit plein staat het grootste standbeeld van Ovidius in Roemenië, opgericht in 1887. Aan de rand van het plein bevindt zich een 19e-eeuws bouwblok dat dankzij nieuwe verlichting en renovatie de populairste avondwandeling van de stad is geworden.
Hoogtepunten: De locals zeggen dat Ovidius naar de zee kijkt, maar in werkelijkheid is zijn gezicht naar de beschaving gekeerd. Wanneer de zon ondergaat en de lichten aangaan, ontstaan er schaduwen rond de marmeren dichter die hem laten bewegen en voordragen alsof hij leeft.

- Park the car a bit further away, as the streets around the square are often congested and parking is expensive.
- The best photo can be taken from the northern end of the square, where the entire architecture and the statue are visible at once.
- During summer days, it is very crowded here; come around 9 in the morning when the square is almost empty.
- In winter, there is a wonderful Christmas market here that attracts thousands of visitors.
