Korte feiten: De kathedraal werd ingewijd in 1928 en biedt plaats aan maximaal 2000 gelovigen. Na het uitbreken van de burgeroorlog in 1991 raakte ze zwaar beschadigd, toch domineren haar gotische gevels nog steeds het panorama van de stad.
Hoogtepunten: Het dak van de kathedraal is tot op de dag van vandaag bezaaid met kogelsporen uit de burgeroorlog, die in het zonlicht zachtjes glinsterende zilveren stippen vormen in de stenen gevel. Lokale moslimvissers gebruiken haar als herkenningspunt bij hun terugkeer van zee en vertellen elkaar verhalen over hoe haar klokken hen ooit hielpen de weg naar huis te vinden.
