Fatos rápidos: Esta fortaleza ergue-se sobre um rochedo de 20 metros de altura, acima do vale do uádi. Suas paredes têm até 3 metros de espessura, e no seu interior escondem-se túneis subterrâneos que levavam a fontes de água secretas.
Destaques: Do alto da torre, avista-se o único lugar em Omã onde o deserto encontra o oceano, um espetáculo pelo qual muitos fotógrafos dariam metade de seus equipamentos. Nas paredes da fortaleza ainda são visíveis inscrições antigas deixadas por marinheiros portugueses há 400 anos.

- Don't miss the chance to climb to the very top tower: it offers the best view over the entire bay and the city.
- Come on weekdays, when there are almost no visitors, while on weekends local families have picnics here.
- Try to find the old Portuguese carved marks on the southern wall: it is a detail known to very few.
- Wear comfortable shoes: the steps are stone and quite steep, and handrails are not everywhere.
