Rychlá fakta: Roughly 10,000 works fill this sprawling museum, from Egyptian mummies to a stunning run of French Impressionist canvases. One collector, brewery heir Carl Jacobsen, personally assembled the whole thing and opened it to the public so everyone could enjoy art free of charge.

Zajímavosti: Walk under the Winter Garden's glass dome and you're suddenly inside a tropical greenhouse, with towering palm trees, a gushing blue fountain, and warm, humid air that smells faintly of green. The museum owns nearly 50 bronze sculptures by Degas, more than almost anywhere else on Earth, and they're arranged so you can circle each one like a dancer on stage.
