Pod bazilikou se nachází neapolský hřbitov, kde je pravděpodobně pohřben svatý Petr, a můžete si prohlédnout starověké římské hroby jen pár metrů pod nohama, což je výrazný kontrast k renesančnímu umění nahoře.

- Dress respectfully, cover shoulders and knees, and carry a lightweight scarf for quick coverage at security if needed.
- Arrive 30–45 minutes before opening to get ahead of the main security line and enjoy clearer views of the nave.
- Climb the dome first if you want fewer people in photos, take the stairs for better vantage points and cheaper fare, or the lift for part of the way if you have mobility limits.
- Skip Scavi unless you booked well in advance, and photograph the nave from the central aisle and the dome base for classic wide-angle shots.
