Rychlá fakta: Tento deštný prales na jihovýchodě Madagaskaru je domovem více než 12 druhů lemurů, včetně vzácného bambusového lemura. V roce 1990 byl zapsán na seznam světového dědictví UNESCO, protože ukrývá neuvěřitelnou biologickou rozmanitost se stovkami endemických druhů rostlin a živočichů.
Zajímavosti: Vědci zde v roce 1986 objevili zcela nový druh savce, zlatého bambusového lemura, kterého do té doby nikdo neznal. Jeho potrava obsahuje dostatek kyanidu na to, aby zabila většinu ostatních zvířat, ale lemur ho bez problémů stráví.

- Take waterproof shoes and a raincoat, as a sudden downpour can occur even in the dry season.
- For photographing lemurs, use a fast lens (f/2.8 or wider), as it is very dark under the forest canopy.
- The trails can be muddy and slippery, so walking sticks are not a shame but a smart choice.
- Ask your guide whether they can take you along the less crowded Varibolo trail, where there are more chances to spot rare birds.
