Slovenia is generally safe and honest for tourists, with low violent crime and a solid transport network. The main watch-outs are overpriced taxis without meters, exchange counters near tourist spots with poor rates, and the same common European street scams. Pay with cards where possible and check receipts, especially in Ljubljana's old town.

1. Unlicensed airport drivers
Jak to funguje: Drivers without official authorization approach passengers inside arrivals and quote inflated fixed prices, often without a meter. Fares can be double the fair rate.

2. Poor-rate exchange booths

5. Misleading apartment listings
