Rychlá fakta: Přes 300 dutin bylo vytesáno do sopečného tufu této 80 metrů vysoké skály, čímž vznikl největší předhispánský sýpka na Kanárských ostrovech. Domorodí Kanárové zde skladovali ječmen a pšenici a využívali přirozenou vlhkost porézního kamene k udržení obilí čerstvého po celou zimu.
Zajímavosti: První španělští kolonizátoři si spletli stovky jeskynních otvorů s klášterem a pojmenovali ho Cenobio, ale místní věděli, že jde o starodávnou ostrovní potravinovou banku. Každá dutina byla uzavřena kamennou deskou a hlínou, čímž vznikla samostatná sila schopná pojmout dost obilí pro celé rodiny během drsných ročních období.
