O atrakcí
Rychlá fakta: Home to one of northern Europe's most extensive collections of hardy woody plants, this living laboratory sprawls across 20 hectares of carefully curated landscapes. Over 1,600 different tree and shrub species from around the globe thrive here, many surviving winter temperatures that plunge below minus 30 degrees Celsius.
Zajímavosti: A handful of ginkgo biloba trees, ancient living fossils that predate the dinosaurs, stand defiantly in a climate where most would never survive. Each autumn their fan-shaped leaves transform into a shimmering curtain of gold, a spectacle made more miraculous by the fact that these trees have no business growing this far north at all.
Insider tipy
- Start your walk at the southern entrance near the main parking lot for a natural downhill-to-uphill loop that saves the steepest climbs for last.
- Visit on a weekday morning in summer to have the winding paths almost entirely to yourself.
- Wear sturdy waterproof shoes even in dry weather, as sections of the bark-chip trails can stay damp and slippery.
- Bring binoculars for the bird hides near the wetlands, where Siberian jays and great grey owls occasionally make appearances.
