Rychlá fakta: Over 500,000 specimens fill the collection cabinets, from sparkling minerals to towering dinosaur skeletons. The museum's building itself is a Victorian masterpiece, with ornate ironwork and a glass roof that floods the central court with natural light.
Zajímavosti: Look closely at the base of the central staircase: tiny carved mice scurry along the stonework, a playful detail added by the Victorian stonemasons. One of the rarest items is a complete dodo skeleton, assembled from bones found in a Mauritius swamp and displayed in a glass case near the main hall.

- Skip the ground floor on arrival and head straight upstairs first, where the galleries are much quieter for the first 30 minutes.
- The west wing holds the mineral collection: spend a few minutes in the fluorescent mineral room where rocks glow neon under UV light.
