Rychlá fakta: More than 2,000 species of drought-tolerant plants from six Mediterranean climate zones thrive across 12.5 acres. The collection includes over 800 types of succulents and cacti, making it one of the most diverse arid-plant collections in Southern California.
Zajímavosti: A shaded pathway winds past a pair of century-old olive trees that were relocated from a historic Orange County ranch. In spring, the South African section erupts with aloes in fiery reds and oranges that attract migrating orioles and hummingbirds by the dozens.

- Bring a hat and water even on overcast days; many paths have no shade cover.
- The best photo spot is the curved bench beneath the giant bird of paradise grove near the South African section.
- Skip the main entrance path and head straight for the back loop where the rarest succulents are displayed.
- Visit right after a rain shower when the air smells of sage and the succulents look plump and vibrant.
