Quick facts: The park's 30-hectare area includes three artificial lakes and more than 60 species of trees. The Radziwill family established it in the second half of the 19th century to create a romantic landscape park with exotic plants.
Highlights: The most mysterious place in the park is Little Switzerland, where winding paths between artificially created hillocks create a true mountain landscape feel in the middle of flat Belarus. Park workers planted specially brought alpine roses and mountain pines there, making one forget that they are actually only a couple of hundred kilometers from Minsk.
Insider tips
- Visit early in the morning between 8 and 9 a.m., when there is almost nobody in the park and the morning mist over the lakes creates an unforgettable atmosphere.
- Wear comfortable shoes, as the unmarked trails between the Last Bridge and the Saare castle grounds are rocky and damp.
- Searching for the rhinoceros statue is an exciting game for families with children in the park, as it hides off the main trail.
- In winter, bring your ice skates, because an annual ice skating tournament is held on the frozen lakes.
