Quick facts: Wenn man die Treppenstufen hinaufsteigt, spürt man sofort die kalte, harte Steinoberfläche und das leise Rauschen des Bergwinds in den Ohren. Die wechselnden Höhen der Stufen zwingen einen, den Rhythmus mit den Füßen zu messen. Über 20 Feuerwachtürme reihen sich entlang der sich schlängelnden Verteidigungslinie. Aus der Ferne sieht man die Wolken, die im Tal aufsteigen, was beim Fotografieren eine besondere Tiefenwirkung und Schichtung ergibt.
Highlights: Wenn man die Steintreppe zum 23. Feuerwachturm hinaufsteigt, kann man den Duft von Kiefernnadeln gemischt mit trockenem Laub riechen. Eine kleine Positionsänderung genügt, um das ganze Tal und die Kurven der Mauer überblicken zu können. Viele entscheiden sich, mit der Seilbahn oder der Einschienenbahn ins Tal zu fahren. Während der Abfahrt sieht man aus der Vogelperspektive die wellenförmige Ziegelmauer und den dunklen Waldgürtel. Das Geräusch des Windes, der an den Ohren vorbeizieht, bleibt unvergesslicher als jedes Foto.
