About

Quick facts: Housed in a medieval palace that once belonged to a 15th-century Croatian noble family, the museum's collection spans over 4,000 artifacts. Visitors can see everything from ancient Roman pottery found beneath the city streets to a 3rd-century sarcophagus carved with scenes from Greek mythology.

Highlights: Tucked inside the courtyard is a tiny stone relief showing a medieval ships so detailed that you can count the oars and sailors. It's one of the few surviving visual records of what Adriatic trading vessels actually looked like in the 13th century.
