- Fair taxi price (official, daytime): 500 Kč - 700 Kč (€20 - €29). Use the official taxi rank outside the terminal or an app (Bolt, Uber, Liftago). Agree on the fare or check the meter before departing. Unlicensed drivers approach arrivals inside the terminal, refuse them.
- Best alternative: Airport Express bus AE to Prague main station (Hlavní nádraží) (100 Kč (€4.09))
- Validate your ticket in the yellow validator box at the entrance to the platform or inside the tram/bus as soon as you board. Forgetting to validate is treated the same as no ticket. Contactless bank cards and the PID Lítačka app also work for tap-in validation. Fine without a valid ticket: 1,500 Kč (€61.35).
- Round up taxi fares. In restaurants 5-10% is common for good service. Tipping is appreciated but not mandatory. In bars, rounding up is normal.
- Cover or service charges are not customary in Czech restaurants. If a service charge appears on the bill, check the menu for published prices before ordering and confirm the total before paying. Menus without prices are rare but should be treated with caution.
- Always choose to be charged in CZK and decline dynamic currency conversion. Prefer ATMs attached to major banks. Some independent ATM brands in tourist areas charge high withdrawal fees and offer poor rates; check the screen for fees before confirming.

How we calculate
Stay is a double room shared by two (one room per two travelers). Food assumes two cheap meals, a modest dinner and a coffee on a budget, a cheap lunch, a restaurant dinner, coffee and a drink mid-range and restaurant meals, coffees and drinks in comfort. Transport is a daily public transport allowance, plus taxis in the higher tiers. Sights is an average daily allowance for entry tickets and activities. Everything is per day of the trip; a 3-night trip counts 3 days.
Not included: flights, travel insurance, city tax (usually a few euros per person per night, paid at the hotel), shopping and nightlife.
