About

Quick facts: Stretching over 700 meters along the Øresund coast, this sandy shoreline offers one of the closest swimming spots to central Copenhagen. Water temperatures in summer average a pleasant 18-20°C, and the beach sees over 1 million visitors during peak season.

Highlights: At sunset, the water turns a calm glassy silver as the Øresund Bridge glows in the distance, creating a natural light show against the horizon. Local swimmers know to head to the far northern end where the underwater sandbar keeps the water shallow and warmer than the rest of the beach.

Insider tips

  • Walk 10 minutes north of the main entrance near the lifeguard tower to find quieter spots with fewer families.
  • The wooden boardwalk at the southern end is the best photo spot for capturing the Øresund Bridge at sunset.
  • Bring a windbreaker even on warm days, the coastal breeze can pick up suddenly in the afternoon.
  • Rent a kayak or paddleboard from the beach center for a different perspective of the coastline.
