Quick facts: The museum houses over 130 objects that tell the story of Lake Atitlán and the three Mayan peoples who live along its shores. The collection includes a reconstructed ts'unun'ya boat showing how the Maya sailed on the lake before the arrival of the Spanish.

Highlights: The small zoological exhibit features live specimens of the lake's endemic species, including the rare poc crayfish, which is found only in Lake Atitlán. You also get a close-up look at objects from the 1969 accident when a plane crashed into the lake, and the remains still lie at a depth of 100 meters.
