Millennia stack inside these walls, 6th-century BC Punic ramparts propping up Renaissance frescoes, with a private puppet theater folded into the upper floor.
Highlights: In the Hall of Mirrors, a brass latch behind a gilded frame swings open to reveal a tiny 19th-century theater, its folding wooden seats and oil-lamp footlights still intact. The Count leads you past glass cases holding his ancestor's 1850s dueling pistols, then waves you onto a gold-threaded sofa where his grandmother once took her afternoon tea.
Insider tips
- Reserve at least a day ahead by phone or email, the Count opens the doors only for scheduled tours.
- Carry cash, card readers have no place in this centuries-old palazzo.
- Ask to pause by the Punic rampart in the courtyard, those 2,500-year-old stones stay cool even through July.
