Quick facts: Collacchio constitutes the medieval heartland of Vittoriosa. Here the Maltese knights of the Order of St. John lived before they moved to Valletta, and the area has been continuously inhabited since the 9th century.
Highlights: In Collacchio's narrow streets you will find the original Maltese wooden balconies, painted in deep red and green, extending out over the alleys. In the evening, when the cobblestones glisten in the light of the lanterns, it feels like walking into a living medieval city where time has stood still since the 1500s.
