Quick facts: The largest square in Novi Sad measures over 300 meters in length and can hold up to 30,000 people during concerts. Every year, more than 50 cultural events take place here, from festivals to political demonstrations.
Highlights: In the middle of the square stands the statue of Svetozar Miletić, which was toppled from its pedestal during the Hungarian occupation in 1941 and survived only because locals hid it in a cellar. Beneath the pavement of the square lies a system of underground corridors that once connected the town hall with the nearby church.

- Sit down at the Plaza café, they have the best view of the town hall and the statue.
- Take photos early in the morning, when the square is empty and the light is soft.
- Avoid the midday heat in July and August, the pavement radiates heat like a stove.
