Visit at sunset into the early evening, when floodlights turn the rock to gold and tour groups have left. Mornings bring strong winds and spray that can soak cameras, so late afternoon is the safer window.
Budget tips
The coastal walk is completely free, and parking at the adjacent lot costs nothing. Skip the souvenir stalls near the entrance and grab snacks and drinks at a GS25 convenience store a few blocks back instead.

Quick facts: Volcanic lava pushed up through the sea about a million years ago and froze into a 10-meter dragon head that appears to drink from the waves. Local legend says the mythical dragon was struck by lightning and turned to stone mid-sip, and the rock glows gold under floodlights after sunset.
Highlights: From the coastal path at low tide, you can make out the dragon's curled snout and open jaw clearly as waves crash into its mouth. Try returning after 7 p.m., when colored floodlights wash over the stone and make the whole formation look like glowing embers against the black sea.
Insider tips
- Wear a windbreaker even in summer, since gusts off the sea are constant and spray drifts right onto the photo deck.
- Head to the western end of the path at high tide to catch waves exploding over the dragon's snout.
- Sunset photos work best from the stone platform near the parking lot, where the rock frames the horizon.
- Arrive before 10 a.m. to beat the coach tours that crowd the railings by midday.
